Earthenware.
In the first part of the 17th century, painters have shown great imagination in their decorative work, when interpreting the decorations Far East. Due to a lack of knowledge, indeed only a few stories,  old prints and perhaps a few pieces of Chinese ceramics from Holland for inspiration and respond to market demand for the French scenes of chinoiserie.

Nevers 17th century, oval dish 435 X 355mm, blue monochrome.
Condition:
Very good, no cracks or chips.
Authentic and no restoration.
